2019 private WASSCE results out, 26% pass English, Maths
The Head of the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council , Olu Adenipekun , has announced the release of the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates , 2019 – First Series . According to him , 3 , 102 candidates obtained credits in a minimum of five subjects , including English Language and General Mathematics. This represents 26 . 08 per cent of the candidates who sat for the examination . Adenipekun said at a press conference on Tuesday at the WAEC National Office in Yaba , Lagos , out of the 11 ,892 candidates who sat for the examination , 6 , 180 were males and 5 , 712 females. He said, “ For the 2019 diet , 12 ,202 candidates registered for the examination , which ended on February 4, 2019 . Thirty days after the conclusion of the examination , I am happy to announce the release of the results . ” He added , “A total of 11 , 686 candidates , representing 98 . 27 per cent , have their results fully processed and released , while 206 candidates , representing 1 . 73 per cent , have some of their subjects being processed due to errors traceable to the candidates during the course of registration or sitting the examination . Such errors are being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates to get their results fully processed and released subsequently. ”
Giving a breakdown of the 11 ,686 results released , Adenipekun said some results had been withheld in connection with reported cases of examination malpractice. He added , “A total of 3 , 102 representing 26 . 08 per cent of the candidates obtained credit passes and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and General Mathematics. ” He said 17 . 5 per cent of the candidates who sat for a similar examination in 2018 obtained five credits and above in five subjects , including English and Mathematics. The WAEC chief said, “A total of 8, 782 candidates , representing 75 . 15 per cent , obtained credits and above in two subjects ; 7 , 332 candidates , representing 62 . 74 per cent , obtained credits and above in three subjects ; 5 , 850 candidates , representing 50 . 06 per cent , obtained credits and above in four subjects ; and 4, 314 candidates , representing 36 . 28 per cent , obtained credits and above in five subjects .
“ 3 . 16 per cent of the total candidature results for the examination are withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. The cases are being investigated and the reports of the investigations will be presented to the committee of the council for consideration . “ The committee’ s decisions will be communicated to the affected candidates . ”
