Ahead of today’s Inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office, the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, has warned trouble makers to stay away from the venue, Eagles Square.

The DHQ, while issuing the warning on Tuesday in Abuja, said mischief-makers and criminals would be dealt with if they cause trouble at the venue, adding that military men had been deployed in the Federal Capital Territory to ensure security.

Acting Director, Defence Information, Col Onyema Nwachukwu, who issued the warning, said: “We assure the public that the inauguration is going to be without a hitch. Our deployment has been made and this is in the entire Federal Capital Territory.

The venue for the event has been taken care of in our security plans.

“There will not be any opportunity for criminals to take any advantage.

And anybody who goes out of his way to cause mischief or mayhem will be dealt with by the long arm of the law.”

In a similar development, the FCT Police Command said it would block 12 routes leading to Eagle Square during the inauguration of the president and his deputy.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Usman Umar at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

“Ahead of the Presidential inauguration ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, the command is working in collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure an exercise without a hitch.

The public should also note that as part of the security measures put in place for the event, there will be diversion of vehicular movement on some major routes leading to Eagle Square”, Umar said.

According to him, the affected routes are Aso Drive, FCDA by Finance Headquarters, Bayelsa House junction, National Assembly, Trancorp by Gana junction, Nitel junction by Ahmadu Bello Way and Kur Mohammed by Benue House Plaza, NNPC Tower.
