Toyota Nigeria Limited has finally responded to the request of new car enthusiasts for an elegant but affordable small sport utility vehicle with the unveiling of the Toyota Rush to the nation’s automobile market.
The TNL says it expects the vehicle to record an instant success and projects to sell between 200 and 300 units this year.
The Managing Director, TNL, Mr Kunle Ade-Ojo, said in Lagos during an interactive session with motoring journalists at the media launch of the vehicle that the introduction of the vehicle was born out of an extensive research and the persistent demand for the model by lovers of the Toyota brand.
According to him, the vehicle, which is available in three variants, fuses dynamic energy with sharp elegant styling.
He said, “The Rush is equally imbued with magnificent interior beauty and comfort. It is targeted at aspirational individuals that love the comfort and status of an SUV with excellent drive and affordable price.”
Describing the vehicle as a masterpiece, the TNL MD said the Rush “is a befitting vehicle imbued with the trappings of the Toyota Superior Quality” and could compete favourably with others in the same segment on the platform of elegance and price.

The features of the new vehicle were presented by the Marketing Manager, TNL, Mr Bayo Olawoyin, who explained that the model, which was first produced in 1997, came with 1.5 litre engine as a five-plus-two-seater automobile.
“The Rush is being introduced into the Nigerian market to fulfil customer yearnings for a Toyota SUV that would compete with the likes of Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape and others in that category,” he stated.
Olawoyin gave the unique selling points of the vehicle as bold and high quality interior, attractive fuel economy, impressive features such as projector headlamps, dual-tone grille, LED taillights, making the Rush a head turner.
Others are long cabin and robust body to enhance dynamic styling, with spacious headroom and legroom, allowing occupants to take long journeys at ease.
