About 11 cars and two corpses have been recovered from the mystery pond in Plateau in which the corpse of the slain military man was found.
The pond in question
A coalition of religious organisations, under the aegis of The Faithful, on Tuesday took to the streets of Jos to protest against the serial killings and the recent discoveries from the mining pond in Dura-Du District in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The groups were also protesting against the disappearance of a former Chief of Administration in the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Idris Alkali (retd.), in questionable circumstances.
About 11 cars and two corpses have been recovered from the mystery pond.
Alkali was said to have retired a few weeks before he was declared missing on Monday, September 3, 2018, a day after gunmen swooped on Dura-Du and killed 13 persons.
The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as, ‘Arise, O’ Jesus Christ and strike the killers of your people, oh king of Israel’; ‘Who owns Plateau strange pond?’; ‘We shall see blood no more’; and ‘Stop the killers and face judgment’.
The Convener of TF, Deacon Rotdunna Sekat, who led the protesters, numbering over 100, said Plateau State needed divine intervention to stop bloodshed and violence.
He said, “Plateau State needs divine intervention from God. The good people of Plateau State should come together to demand that enough is enough with the soaking of our soil with blood so that we do not yield sorrow on a longer term.
“We do not want to have to be the ones to answer for the sins of evil men before God. So, we are acting now to cast them out from our midst before their sins are visited on the entire land.
“The state and federal governments must align with the people in this regard so that God does not hold the government as being in collusion with the sponsors of killers.”
Sekat said the organisation was not part of the shedding of innocent blood that was presently crying ceaselessly to God from Plateau State.
“So, we took time to search ourselves and search on behalf of the good people of the state for we know that we, the people of Plateau State, are not collectively evil,” he said.
