Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr intends to honour his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, though the German has acknowledged “both parties need to be happy” according to a top source, Sports Extra has gathered.
Rohr guided the Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt but the former Niger and Burkina Faso boss has faced an uncertain future after the tournament.
The German lost to Madagascar and Algeria while he recorded wins over Burundi,Guinea, Cameroon, South Africa and Tunisia at the 2019 AFCON.
“The only thing I can tell you now is that he has one year left on his contract and it’s his desire to stay here and continue my work but both parties need to be happy as well,” a top NFF official told Sports Extra.
“After that, anything can happen in football but I can say that he is happy here.”
Since Rohr took over the Eagles in 2016, Nigeria have recorded 20 wins in 35 matches, drawn five and lost 10 under his charge.
