IPOB: Nigeria police arrests 140 members of pro-Biafra group in Nsukka
The Nigeria police has arrested 140 IPOB members in Enugu state.
The IPOB members, which included 130 male and 10 female, were arrested for allegedly organising unlawful procession.
They were also accused of chanting inciting songs against Nigeria nd displaying proscribeditems on the streets
The Enugu state police command has confirmed the arrest of 140 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within Nsukka area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agencyof Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday, May 23.
Amaraizu said the IPOB members, which included 130 male and 10 female, were arrested for allegedly organising unlawful procession and display of proscribed items on the streets.
He also said that they were arrested for allegedly chanting inciting songs against the nation.
He said that the group was arrested on Wednesday, May 22 by a joint security task-force and formally handed over to the police in Nsukka.
