What facts about Canada do people not believe until they come to Canada?
I have a lot of immigrant friends from all over the world. Most say the FACT that awes them most is the vastness of the country. One woman from Germany landed in Toronto and didn’t leave the city for two months, except to fly to Montreal, New York, and Chicago. She fell into a sort of trance, thinking without thinking that N. America was this huge city. When she got a month off, she bought a car and drove to Vancouver. The trip stunned her. She could not get over—still can’t—the sheer size of Canada. And so few of us in it! The other FACT (Canada has more fresh water than the rest of the world combined) that blew her away was when she flew over the NWT and at 20,000 feet on that clear day, from horizon to horizon all she could see was LAKES.
She says we have no idea how lucky we are. She’s probably right.
Do you find Canadian or US border agents more rude? Why?
